Trip to Europe – Top 5 Capital Cities to Visit?

“Which city should I visit on my first trip to Europe?”

With all of Europe’s history, beauty, and tradition, deciding where to go first can be difficult. From the Eternal City to The Blue Lagoon, here’s our take on some of Europe’s best places to visit and why you should go.

Plenty of European cities would be ideal for a first trip, but we have a shortlist of recommendations based on ease of communication with locals, bucket-list-worthy sights to see, transportation options, and culinary experiences.

#1 LONDON, England

A trip to England provides an excellent introduction to European culture. With our shared language, movies, and music, Americans have an easy and comfortable transition. In fact, my very first "across the pond" trip was to London, so I'm biased toward London as your first European city as well.

#2 ROME, Italy

Rome is supposed to be the city you visit if you only visit one in Italy, or even all of Europe. With historic landmarks like the Pantheon, Colosseum, and renowned Trevi Fountain, there is almost too much to see and do in this city for just one visit. You should allot time to visiting the Roman Forum, the Vatican, as well as modern Rome's outdoor markets and dining options. The Eternal City is the top European vacation spot all year long because it provides guests with a unique experience in each season. Rome is without a doubt among the top tourist destinations in Europe.

#5 MADRID, Spain

The Egyptian Temple of Debod, which was given to Spain in 1968, as well as the enormous bear statue that is housed in the city's Puerta Del Sol are among the cultural treasures that make Spain's exquisite capital the most well-known in the world. Enjoy the neo-Gothic architecture of the city, and don't forget to stop at the huge Royal Palace. Madrid should not be missed because it is unlike any other Spanish city.
